I recently had the pleasure of attending NEW YORK FASHION WEEK 2017. Here’s how it went down. A few weeks ago I was checking my emails and found what every fashion blogger dreams of….an invitation to attend a fashion show at NYFW. An invitation to Irina Vitjaz’s 2017 show to be exact. I literally wanted to scream like I had just won the lottery lol. I immediately began preparing for this opportunity of a lifetime. Of course one of the best benefits of working in this industry is the privilege of having my nails, hair, and make up professionally done the day of the show.
WHAT I WORE
I decided to go online to Rent The Runway and rent a dress instead of purchasing a new one. I chose this gorgeous blush lace dress from Monique Lhuillier. *TIP always sign up for emails, you usually get a % off coupon* I got to wear a beautiful designer dress with a retail price tag of $595 for only $40.00!!! I would highly recommend this sort of service for a special event, you won’t regret it I promise! Of course it was freezing in NY so I chose to wear my favorite blush pink faux fur coat from Chicwish
THE VENUE
This show was held at Skylight Clarkson Square, the new IT place for designers to showcase their work. It can hold as little as 200 or up to 2,000 guests. I arrived early, and was able to enjoy the fun atmosphere. This also allowed me to be in the front of the line when people started crowding into the entrance.

THE DESIGNER
First of all, let me give you a little background on the designer Irina Vitjaz. She is a multi-talented Austrian fashion designer that was born in Russia. To help understand Irina and her designs, it helps to know a little about her her ancestry. The roots of her family have a firm presence in Russia’s history. She is descended from the noble family serving the Russian tsar in the 17th century. In fact, Irina’s Grandfather was one of the best tailors of his time, surely an inspiration for Irina to pursue her love of fashion design.
THE SHOW
After we were seated, about 20 minutes had gone by when the lights dimmed and the music changed. You can click on any photo to go watch the entire show, but here are a few of my favorites.
This dress is stunning, the lilac hue, and satin stripe design is a timeless look. I also adore the pearl details at the waist, & love that the cut is very classy and feminine, flattering to almost any body type.
I almost jumped out of my seat when this beauty came out lol. Channeling some serious mermaid vibes, this dress is so beautiful. Between the sateen texture and one shoulder cape flowing behind her, I felt like she was floating down the runway. Truly as show stopper.
This is a beautifully fitted gown, a woven texture with a mesmerizing leopard print made with flecks of gold in it. Very elegant and ladylike.
The sequins and attention to detail made this dress absolutely shine. The lace gave enough coverage to be decent, but at the same time sexy.
And lastly, another one of my favorites, a iridescent lace gown. I could feel myself going all heart eyed emoji as soon as I saw it. I mean lace, sequins AND holographic sheen. Come on, it really doesn’t get any better than this.
I was so impressed and delighted with all of her gorgeous designs. I might add that her ENTIRE collection was DRESSES!!!!!!! I love that her dresses all embody the beauty of femininity without being overly revealing. I cannot stress how hard it is to find girly, cute dresses that are also modest.
After the show I was on cloud 9. I thought finally, a modern fashion designer who shares my love of timeless, feminine, elegant style!!! I really would love for you to watch the entire show. My camera skills were limited lol and you NEED to see the rest of her gorgeous dresses!!!
Go watch it HERE and tell me which dresses are your favorite?
